Short and crisp exchange of blows with the youth at the Fittest City Sprint in St. Pölten

Michi went with mixed feelings into the last fast one at the Fittest City Sprint Triathlon in St. Pölten. One day before, his bike slipped away during a training ride. However, he was lucky to escape and "only" had to fight his way through with a graze including a bruised hip.

Shortly before the start he decided to compete and that was the right decision. After the swim he was just over 1 minute behind the leaders in 3rd place. The bike course was very nimble through the city. This criterium-like profile made it difficult to make up time to the front, however he came a little closer to the top duo Oliver Janny as well as his training partner Rafael Lukatsch with the fastest bike split.

During the run it was only a matter of result management. The podium was safe for him and after the shock of the day before it was a success. In the last discipline the hip injury became noticeable and Michi tried to complete the 5 kilometers as gently as possible.

The week of truth is coming up

Next Sunday Michi will compete in the IRONMAN Austria in Klagenfurt, the highlight of the season. With the Swedish double Patrick Nilsson, winner IRONMAN Frankfurt 2021 and Rasmus Svenningsson, winner IRONMAN Lake Placid 2021, the competition is strong. The two all-rounders could be followed by other calibers in the short term, as late entries are also possible in the PROs this year due to Corona.

The #roadtoklafu comes to an end after the taper week and it's time to rock'n'roll again!
